Therapy is, at times, uncomfortable and hard. Often people wait for motivation to incite action and I hold the belief that one must move, take that first step, to inspire motivation. Laughing, crying, and being really angry are all emotions that can facilitate motion through the hard stuff and often, avoidance of that muck has led you to seek help. My personal and professional experiences and educational training, as well as my navigation through personal hardships, informs my work as a psychotherapist. I love sport and movement and work to empower clients to move and take action. Through mindfulness, solution focused work, cognitive behavior methods, and body-centered psychotherapies, I work with clients to set and realize their therapeutic goals. In practice, I work with and support adolescents and adults who experience depression, anxiety, grief and loss, life transition, and sport performance goals. I am committed to helping individuals build skills and develop tools to break unhealthy patterns of thoughts and behaviors and in doing so, supporting the client in building a foundation of strength and autonomy. Limitations and fears often push us towards unhealthy self beliefs and relationships and the first step in healing those words is accepting them, being curious about them. I hold a Master’s Degree in clinical mental health from Adam’s State University. Before becoming a psychotherapist, I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in respiratory therapy. Prior to that, I was a professional multi sport athlete, competing at the international level in both trail running and cross country skiing. I was a member of the US Ski team for seven years, competing in the World Cup, multiple world championships, and the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. I know that sport can build confidence and I know that it can also envelope your identity and parsing out the self and the sport is a passion of mine. Supporting athletes and coaches is very near and dear to my heart. I believe strongly in our innate ability to use movement and connections as ways to heal and create forward momentum in life.It takes a team, a community, and alliance to heal and I hope to support you along your journey!
